Although I never met Eugene in person, I spoke with him over the phone and corresponeded by mail, as I interviewed him for my book "Padre Pio and America." He told me that the had gone to confession to St. Padre Pio and also received Communion from him. Padre Pio had the ability to understand many languages, with the help of his guardian angel, and that is how he was able to hear Eugene's confession. Padre Pio is always loyal to his spiritual children, and I am sure is with Eugene now.
