Obituary of Joan Schomp

Joan Schomp, age 78, died on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at her home in Watchung. Born in Dunmore, PA, she had resided in Carteret and Elizabeth before moving to Watchung in 1967. Joan was a graduate of Baton High School in Elizabeth. Joan was a homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and especially her grandchildren. Predeceased by her son John J. Schomp, III in 1972 and her siblings Charles, Michael, Mary and Emma. Surviving is her husband John J. Schomp, Jr.; her children Mark, Greg, David and Heather Smiles; her grandchildren Megan, Nicole, Taylor, Benjamin, Amanda, Christina, Erica and Erin; and her sister Teresa Wolf. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Stony Hill Church, Watchung.
