Obituary of Robert H. Robinson

Robert H. Robinson Plainfield: Robert H. Robinson, affectionately known as "Cool Breeze", born on November 2, 1942, went home to the Lord, Friday, November 20, 2015 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. Mr. Robinson (Bobby) was born and grew up in Westfield NJ, graduating from Westfield High School in 1960. Mr. Robinson has been a resident of Plainfield since 1977. Prior to his retirement in 2002, Mr. Robinson worked as an Electrician for 32 years at Exxon Mobil Research and Engineering in Linden, Florham Park and most recently Clinton. Brother Robinson was an active member of Mt. Carmel Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Somerset. He was the Treasurer; Head of the Board of Trustees; Member of the Men's Fellowship Group Retreat; Head of the Audio Department and was in charge of the building and safety inspections. Brother Robinson was actively involved in the volunteer program for the sick and shut in. Bobby was a sensational, all-state bowler in high school and he continued with that passion. He enjoyed baking, especially his famous cornbread and he was an avid lover of jazz. Mr. Robinson used his talent for electronics to repair and build clocks and radios; he was known to be able to fix anything. His favorite saying was "Don't take any wooden nickels!" He will be sorely missed in this lifetime. Mr. Robinson is predeceased by his Father, Harrison Robinson; his Mother, Ruth Gordon; two Brothers, James and Melvin Robinson; and Sister Dorothy Sumner. He is survived by his only child, Son, Robert Purvis Robinson, affectionately known as "Noochie" of Plainfield; loving Mother of his Son, Margaret Purvis; two Sisters, Faye Pearyer of FL and Ruby Williams of Plainfield; a Brother William "Billy" Robinson of Ohio; two Grandchildren, Ahmirr Terrell Robinson and Kyree Deja Robinson; extended-daughter, Shelia Gilbert and extended-son, Adam Purvis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a host of family and loving friends. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9-10 am at Mt. Carmel Orthodox Presbyterian Church 350 Franklin Blvd, Somerset, NJ 08873; followed by a 10:00 am service at the church. The interment will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
