Obituary of Julia E. Importico

Berkeley Heights: Julia E. (Lendene) Importico, age 91, died on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Berkeley Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Berkeley Heights. She was born in Marcus Hook, PA and raised in Cochranville, PA and moved to North Plainfield in 1942. In 1980 she moved to Toms River and most recently lived in Berkeley Heights. Mrs. Importico was a home maker. She was a Communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church in Toms River and was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. Mrs. Importico was a member of the PTA at St. Joseph’s Elementary School, North Plainfield and was active in politics serving as a Committee Woman with the Republican Party.She especially enjoyed the many ocean cruises she shared with her husband. Not one to sit still, she often planned trips to exciting places. Mrs. Importico is predeceased by her husband, Nicholas Importico in 2008. Surviving are her sons: Nicholas Importico and wife Sandra of North Plainfield; Ronald Importico and wife Maria of Freehold; her daughter, Ann Hazelton and husband Ron of Southport, NC; her sisters, Betty Lepore of New Castle, DE and Lucy Blevins of Quarryville, PA; her eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 2-4& 7-9 pm at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung. Funeral services will begin on 9:00 am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00 am funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church in North Plainfield.
