Obituary of Lydia Torre

Lydia (Giuliano) Torre, age 93, died on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at The Chelsea in Belvidere, NJ. Born and raised in Newark, she had resided in Plainfield for over 50 years before moving to Belvidere 3 years ago. Prior to retiring Lydia worked at Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield for 30 years as a Quality Assurance Representative. Lydia was a member of St. Mary's Church in Plainfield, and the Rosary Society at St. John's Church in Dunellen. She was the past president of Hadley Chapter at Deborah Hospital. Lydia loved cooking for her family and will be missed. Predeceased by her husband Charles Torre in 2003, her brother Samuel Giuliano, sisters Gloria Cassilli and Josephine DiSimone and her son-in-law Stephen Mazzo. Surviving are her son Vincent Torre and his wife Catherine; her daughter Felicia Mazzo; her two grandchildren Spencer and Brett Torre and her brother Armando Giuliano. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Resurrection at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Plainfield. Entombment will follow at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
