Obituary of Hermon L. Murphy

Metuchen: Hermon L. Murphy, age 68 died on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at JFK Medical Center in Edison. He was born in Charlestown, SC and lived in Plainfield and Piscataway before moving to Metuchen. Prior to his retirement in 2003, he worked at the Ford Motor Company as an Assemblyman. Mr. Murphy was a member of the North Stelton AME Church in Piscataway. He loved cars, model cars and singing and dancing. He was a member of a band and enjoyed watching wrestling. Mr. Murphy is survived by his wife, Evelyn Stacey Coleman Murphy; his sons, Archie (Lyra) Murphy, Hermon Murphy & Rashan Coleman; his daughters, Zina Murphy (Michael) Venson, Chanda Murphy, Angela Murphy (Jeffrey McNeill) and Tasha (Rudolph)Rohan; his brothers, Orndary (Archie) Murphy and Jahmeel Ibraham and his sister, Jenet Hammond. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Kenisha, Michale, Amirah, Sarai, Kryington, Chaonne, Nakeema, Kylah and Mason. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 13, 2017 from 9 to 11 am at the North Stelton AME Church on Craig Avenue followed by an 11 am service. Cremation is private.
