Obituary of Helen Harper

Helen Harper, age 81, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at her home in Plainfield. Born in Montclair, she had resided in East Orange before moving to Plainfield over 30 years ago. Prior to retiring Helen had worked in Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield as well as East Orange General Hospital in East Orange. Helen was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Plainfield for over 30 years. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping and talking with her daughter Carolyn and listening to gospel music. Predeceased by her son Juel Hicks and her grandsons Jerome Hicks and Shaky Hicks. Survived by her husband Willie Harper; children John Hicks, Jerome Hicks, Jackie Hicks, Carolyn Hicks Johnson and her husband Barry; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 9-10 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church, Plainfield followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains.
