Lorenzo Rubinetti

Obituary of Lorenzo Rubinetti

Lorenzo (Larry) Rubinetti, 97, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017. He was born in Pescopagano, Italy to Pietro Luigi and Maria Rosa Rubinetti. Larry was raised on a farm.  At a young age, he was blessed to have met St. Padre Pio. He continued to love and admire him during the years to come. He was enlisted into the Italian army at the age of nineteen. He immigrated to the United States in 1952, where he worked for a carpet factory and later owned and operated an ice cream parlor briefly. In 1958, he met and married his loving wife, Mary (Ciampa) Rubinetti. Two years later, he began a waste disposal business. In 1961, Mary and Larry had their first child, daughter Rosemarie. In 1967, they had their son, Paul. They lived in Union County, and eventually settled to North Plainfield in 1967.

In 1985, Larry retired and spent time during the winter months in Bonita Springs, Florida where he met many friends and kept in touch with them for years. Larry had a zest for life, especially his family, whom he loved being around. As a man of few words, he always made an impression wherever he went. Whether going to Burger King, Aldi’s, Walgreens, or his doctor’s office, people he visited always remembered him. He always found the good in people and never talked poorly of anyone. His sweet and gentle demeanor was rare and noticed by all. Everything he did was out of pure kindness as he put care and love into whatever he came across. He always kept a garden in his backyard, and invested a lot of time and care into growing his vegetable and flower garden. He distributed the products from his garden to family members and friends, especially figs from his fig trees.  Hobbies of Larry’s included playing bocce ball with his friends, watching wrestling on TV, and playing cards on the computer. He looked forward to attending Senior Citizens of North Plainfield where he loved to socialize. Most of all, Larry loved spending quality time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He defined his character by being truly devoted to his wife, Mary of fifty-nine years. During his last moments, Larry was surrounded by his children and their spouses, as well as his grandchildren that will always love and cherish him.

Predeceased by his six siblings, Francesco, Philomena, Giulia, Angelo, Giuseppe and Antonio, Larry is survived by his loving wife Mary, daughter Rosemarie Lamperti and her husband, Scott of North Plainfield, and three granddaughters, Lisa, Jessica, and Amanda. His son Paul, and his wife, Hether of South Plainfield, and three grandsons, Joseph, Vincent, and Matthew.
