I am very glad to have found this tribute page. I was a classical guitar student of Joe's back in the late 1980's, and have wonderful memories of my weekly lessons with him. In addition to being an excellent guitarist and teacher, he was a wonderful story-teller, and I loved to hear about the antics of George the Greek and his other friends. It was a fun way to start or end a lesson!
Sadly, I put my guitar down for far too many years, and have just recently started playing again. As I am trying to work through the pieces he taught me, I only now truly appreciate just how far he took me as a classical guitarist. I too, wish that I had listened to the small voice encouraging me to contact him sooner, as I would have loved to let him know how much I appreciate his teaching, and his friendship. I am so very glad I saved all the sheet music from our lessons, with his hand-written notes and transcriptions, as a memento.
RIP Joe. You made the world more beautiful through your music and the music you inspired in your students; we honor you as we play.

Dear Brother,
I don't know how I will go the rest of my life without you in it! I cherish the memory of your week with me in Florida in October. The bond we shared is forever engraved in my broken heart. You put 2,000% into everything you did. Your art, your music, your sense of humor, compassion, kindness and so many other wonderful things you gave to this world. I love you always!
To my dear Uncle Joe:
I love you so much and will miss your contagious laugh! It was through your inspiration of going back to college later in life, that encouraged me to go back as well. Every time I got discouraged with hard assignments and tight deadlines, I thought of you and not only was able to push through, but achieved 4.0 GPA in all of my classes! You are so dear to me and I will miss you so much! Your pain and suffering with all your illnesses are finally over and you can rest in peace and be with Gramps, Nan, and our furry family members!
Love your niece and Goddaughter,
Laurie
