Obituary of Charles P. “Chuck” DaGraca

Charles P. Chuck DaGraca, age 54, died on Sunday, August 17th at home. Mr. DaGraca was born in Perth Amboy, New Jersey and raised in Carteret. He has lived in Warren since 1981, having formerly lived in Middlesex. He was in the rental business since 1972 and was the owner of Astro Rents in North Plainfield, Taylor Rental of Dunellen and Princeton, and Rent Rite of Iselin and Piscataway. Chuck was a graduate of Carteret High School where he excelled in sports. He was captain of both the football and baseball teams. He attended Strayer Junior College in Washington, D.C. He was active in youth sports in Warren, coaching both baseball and soccer. He was also a baseball commissioner in Warren. He coached Pop Warner football and was treasurer of the Watchung Hills Pop Warner Football Association. Surviving are his beloved wife of 31 years Barbara (Stemkowski) DaGraca and his devoted children Gregg M. DaGraca of Warren and Dana L. DaGraca of Manhattan, New York, two sisters Rose Marie Doscher of The Colony, Texas and Hilda Kouvelis of Rockwall, Texas. His father Charles P. DaGraca died in 1981, and his mother Rosa Pinto DaGraca died in 1989. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21st at 9:15 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung followed by a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Mount R.C. Church, Warren. Entombment will follow at Somerset Hills Memorial Park in Basking Ridge. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to the Dan Paltjon Fund, 231A Greenbrook Road, Green Brook, N.J. 08812.
