Obituary of George N. Bonnell

George N. Bonnell, age 77, died on Thursday, April 01, 2004 at the Watchung Ridge Assisted Living in Watchung. Mr. Bonnell was born in Jersey City, raised in Rahway and had lived for 38 years in Branchburg. Mr. Bonnell was a professional engineer for different companies, specializing in Web Processing Equipment Design, for which he holds several U.S. patents. He retired in 1988 from Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick. Mr. Bonnells true love was aviation. He was an avid aviator and aircraft model builder. He built an experimental single seat acrobatic airplane called an RV-3 at his home, over a 5 year period. He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association. He was a commercial pilot with an instrument rating. He was a veteran of WWII having served in the Army Air Corps. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Newark College of Engineering in 1958. Mr. Bonnell is survived by his wife, Mary Tabor Bonnell. His two sons, Jeffrey Bonnell and his wife Susan of Scotch Plains; and Corey Bonnell and his wife Christine of VA. One daughter, Leesa Csolak and her husband Keith of Flemington. Seven grandchildren, Stephen, Kurt, Kevin, Michael, Jeremy, Alexandra and Madison. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 5th at 11 a.m. in the Higgins Funeral Home, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. Interment will be at Saint Gertrudes Cemetery in Colonia. Visitation will be on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. in the funeral home.Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society 600 First Ave. Raritan NJ, 08869-1346.
