Ann M. Roselle

Ann Marie Roselle

September 5, 1925- February 17, 2021

Ann Marie Roselle was known by most of those around her as “Annie”, and anyone who ever met Annie usually walked away with a smile on their face and a song in their head.  She was born in 1925, smack in the middle of the roaring twenties, and her love for music and zest for life reflected that time period.  She was an accomplished ballroom dancer and vocalist who sat in on numerous occasions with the likes of Stan Kenton, Harry James, and other notables from the “Big Band” era.  She also directed and choreographed several local musical productions.

Having grown up in Plainfield, New Jersey, she graduated high school at the age of 16 and went on to beautician school where she met her husband, Phil.  They bought a house in North Plainfield where they raised their family.

Although never having been formally educated, she successfully built a career in model home interior and exterior decorating, and later, she became the first woman to sell men’s suits in the NBO retail chain, consistently leading her store in annual sales.

She is survived by 3 children, Carl, Robin Oratio, and her husband Albert, Phillip, and his wife Kerry; 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

In recent years she resided at the Spring Hill Assisted Living Home in Princeton, New Jersey where she was loved by the staff for her kind and generous nature.  Whenever an aid or nurse walked in, she would always ask them how their family was doing, and then turn to whoever was there and say, “She’s my favorite.  She’s so good to me!”  She always made those around her feel good about themselves.

She was 95.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Higgins Funeral Home, Watchung, New Jersey.  Due to current social gathering restrictions, Annie’s service will be limited to immediate family members.  For all others who would like to share in the Celebration of Annie’s life, there will be a live video broadcast.  Details to follow.  In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital at St.Jude.org
