Obituary of Ann Palangio
Ann Palangio, aged 96, peacefully passed away at her daughter's residence in Watchung, NJ. She was born in Vallatta, Italy, and resided there until the age of ten. Ann then moved to Wilmington, DE, and later settled in Elizabeth, NJ. For the past 68 years, she had been a cherished resident of Belleville, NJ.
In her younger years, Ann worked as a legal secretary for Cantor & Cantor in Newark, NJ, showcasing her skills and dedication. Alongside her professional pursuits, she wholeheartedly embraced the role of a homemaker, nurturing and creating a loving environment for her family.
Ann was a long-time communicant of the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, where she found solace and community. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and providing her with strength throughout her journey.
One of Ann's greatest passions was traveling, which allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories. She had an undeniable talent for singing and was often requested to perform at weddings, captivating everyone with her beautiful voice. The opera held a special place in her heart, and she found immense joy in experiencing its enchanting melodies.
Affectionately known as the "town taxi," Ann was always ready to provide rides to neighbors in need, clients of her son-in-law's practice, as well as friends and family. Her selflessness and willingness to help others endeared her to all who knew her.
Ann also had a talent for cooking and took great pleasure in preparing traditional Italian meals, with her stuffed artichokes being a memorable favorite among her loved ones. However, her greatest joy in life came from spending time with her grandchildren, showering them with love, wisdom, and cherished memories.
Ann Palangio was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dominick Palangio, in 2000 and her dear brother, Anthony Magaletta, in 2018.
She is survived by her daughter, Maria Giasullo, and her husband, Dr. Michael Giasullo, as well as her two grandchildren, Nicholas Giasullo and Michael Giasullo Jr., and his wife, Stephanie.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 29, 2023, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A Mass in celebration of Ann's life will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., at Our Lady of the Mount, 170 Mt. Bethel Road, Warren, NJ. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover, NJ.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Ann Palangio's memory. Her compassionate heart extended beyond her family, and she had a deep love and concern for children in need.
Ann Palangio's legacy will forever be cherished by her family and friends. She leaves behind a lifetime of love, kindness, and beautiful moments shared with those fortunate enough to have known her.
