I write this with sadness and gratitude for Robert’s life and contributions to the local New Jersey history community. I met and interacted with Robert because of one his last books, Middlebrook (2021), published by American History Press. Robert gave a book talk at the Heritage Trail Association and was a featured speaker and panel member in our initial Symposium series, now also published in The Revolutionary War Comes to Middlebrook New Jersey (2023). His work and engaging presentations are helping us to raise the awareness of the public of our county and state’s rich history as we approach the 250th Anniversary of those Revolutionary times. I know that he will be celebrating those with us in spirit over the next several years. We in turn are grateful for his work and the inspiration it and his life will be to others. Sincere condolences to his family and friends.
Marge W. Sullivan
Board Member, The Heritage Trail Association.

My sincere condolences to all the family. I've had a few conversations with Mr Mayers where we shared our love of history and he would always give me one of his books that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I also attended one of his lectures and found it very informative. He was a remarkable man.
