Obituary of Ketty Sumampouw
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Ketty, who left us on February 1, 2025, just one day before her 62nd birthday. She was born on February 2, 1963, in Rerer, Manado, Indonesia, to Mientje Tumewan and Samuel Jou Ratar, both of whom preceded her in death.
Ketty was the cherished sister of Lietje Wauran and the late John Ratar, and a beloved sister-in-law to Ruddy Wauran and Ket Ratar. She was a devoted wife to Donald Goodman, and a loving mother to Marlon, Gerald, and the late Teddy. She embraced her daughters-in-law, Jeine and Rachel, as her own, along with her stepchildren, Donald and Brittany. As a proud grandmother, she adored Vio, Prince, Courtney, Kimberly, Noah, Nathan, Giovanni, and Lefrin, as well as her step-grandchildren, Carter Joe and Caleb. She also held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews—Ingrid, Bill, Jenniffer, and the late William—whom she considered her own children.
In her younger years, Ketty had a zest for adventure. She took karate classes, competed in motocross races, and passed down her passion for racing to her children, especially Marlon, who went on to compete professionally. She was an avid traveler, exploring new places with her husband and cherishing moments at concerts of her favorite contemporary Christian artists.
Above all, Ketty was deeply devoted to her family. She spoke with her sister, children and nieces and nephews almost every day and was known for her boundless generosity and love. Her fun and bubbly personality drew many friends to her, and her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She loved her church family and found great joy in worship and fellowship.
Ketty’s warmth, kindness, and adventurous spirit will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. While our hearts ache in her absence, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with those who went before her.
A celebration of Ketty’s life will be held with a visitation on Saturday, February 8, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. A Livestream of this funeral service can be seen at the following web address: https://www.hdezwebcast.com/show/ketty-sumampouw. She will be laid to rest with her family in Indonesia at Pekuburan Katolik Lux Aeterna Cemetery.
Rest in love, Ketty. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were blessed to know you.
