Obituary of York Kleinert
York Kleinert, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2025, at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, New Jersey. He was born in Berlin, Germany, where he spent his early years before immigrating to the United States. York and his wife, Eva, settled in Warren, New Jersey, in 1976, where they built a loving home and raised their family.
A talented and innovative industrial designer, York began his career in Berlin through an apprenticeship. After moving to the United States, he pursued his passion for design and founded Prime Patterns Company, a successful business he operated for over 30 years in Middlesex, New Jersey. His craftsmanship, creativity, and dedication to his work left a lasting impact on those who knew him.
Beyond his professional life, York had many interests that brought him great joy. He was an avid golfer, an enthusiastic fisherman, and a passionate boater. He also found great satisfaction in woodworking, spending countless hours crafting and perfecting his projects with skill and precision.
York is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Eva Kleinert, his sons, Stefan Kleinert and his wife Linda, and Eric Kleinert and his wife Jessica, as well as his cherished grandchildren, Alison, Ryan, and Lily. He is also survived by many dear friends and extended family members. He was predeceased by his parents, Wilhelm and Elise, and his siblings, Achim and Gertrude.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ. A memorial service will follow at 12:30 PM at the funeral home. Cremation services were held privately.
