Obituary of James Salvatore DeVizio

James S. DeVizio, 99, of Warren, NJ, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2025, after a hard-fought battle.

In 1950, James married the love of his life, Betty DeVizio. Before her passing on March 29, 2013, they celebrated 62 years of marriage.
After service, James became a Teamster of Local 560 & 701 before opening his first grocery store/deli on Bergen Street and Essa gas station in Newark, NJ. In 1978, James & Betty opened B&J Liquors in Harrison, NJ.

James and Betty resided in Watchung, NJ, in a house James helped build for most of their lives before moving to Warren, NJ. James will be remembered for his hard work of working with his hands. James's hands were a gift of gold. James took such pride in the homes he lived in. Always outside in the yard, no matter what season it was. James loved long walks and visiting neighbors. His passion for his 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe, which he helped restore, won 6 car shows. 2913 & 2014 1st place, 2015 2nd place, 2016 & 2017 1st place and 2019 2nd place. He was so proud of those trophies. James was never at a loss for words. Such wonderful stories he shared with family and friends. The very first time you met him, he would leave you with a memorable story. Holidays were so special to James, spending time with family.
