Obituary of Angela Secondino
July 28, 1941 – March 8, 2025
Angela Secondino, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was 83 years old.
Angela was born on July 28, 1941, in Cassino, Italy, to the late Antonio and Maria Del Greco. She spent her early years in Italy before moving to the United States at the age of 18, settling in Brooklyn, New York. It was there that she built a beautiful life alongside her beloved husband, Fernando Secondino. Together, they raised their family with love, devotion, and strong family values.
Angela and Fernando made Brooklyn their home before moving to Watchung, New Jersey, following Fernando’s retirement. Ten years ago, they relocated to Somerset, where they continued to enjoy the company of family and friends. Although Angela did not work extensively outside the home, she found great joy in her role as a school bus chaperone, a job that allowed her to nurture her love for children.
Angela was a devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church in Watchung, where her faith was a guiding force in her life. She found immense joy in spending time with her family, whom she cherished above all else. She was the heart of every gathering, known for her warmth, kindness, and ability to make everyone feel at home. Holidays were especially dear to her as they provided the perfect opportunity to cook elaborate meals, fill her home with love and laughter, and create lasting memories.
Beyond her love for family, Angela found pleasure in life’s simple joys. She enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing cards with her friends. Her generosity, wisdom, and unwavering love for her family left an indelible mark on those who knew her.
Angela leaves behind her devoted husband of 63 years, Fernando Secondino, and her three loving daughters: Diane LeBenger and her husband, Jeffrey; Helen D'Errico and her husband, Ben; and Denise Tautonico and her husband, Joseph. She was the proud grandmother of Kelly and her husband, Dylan; Katrina; Ben Jr.; Alexis; Gianna; and JonCarlo, and the adoring great-grandmother of one cherished great-grandchild, Cielle. Angela’s love and legacy will continue to live on through her family, whose lives were forever enriched by her presence.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and again from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at 10:00 AM at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church, 225 Mountain Blvd, Watchung, NJ. Entombment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 899 Lincoln Avenue, Piscataway, NJ.
Angela’s kindness, love, and devotion to her family and friends will never be forgotten. Her spirit will continue to shine in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
