Jacob Metelitz Obituary

Jacob Metelitz, 77, passed away peacefully from complications of Lewy body dementia on Friday, March 14, 2025. Born in Smolensk, Russia, he moved to Moscow in 1972.   Jacob immigrated to the United States in 1980 with his wife and twin sons, initially arriving in Charlotte, North Carolina. His career as an IT professional led the family to Plainsboro and then Basking Ridge, New Jersey where Jacob resided until his passing.


Jacob earned his bachelor's degree in Russia before embarking on a distinguished career in information technology. He worked for Applied Data Research, Inc. (ADR), a pioneering software company, and later served as an IT consultant for numerous companies, sharing his expertise and passion for technology.


A devoted member of the Chabad of Somerset County in Basking Ridge, Jacob found joy in swimming, biking, and traveling to Europe. His greatest happiness came from spending time with his family, especially his cherished grandchildren.


Jacob is survived by his loving wife, Galina Metelitz; his sons, Vadim Metelitsa and his wife Kate, and Gary Metelitsa; his four grandchildren, Noah, Camryn, Gabriel, and Eli; and his siblings, Irene Bielsky and Lenny Metelitsa.


A graveside service will be held on Sunday, March 16, at 11 a.m. at the United Hebrew Cemetery, 122 Arthur Kill Rd., Staten Island, NY 10306.


Jacob will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
