Norma Evelyn Cuellar-Rivas, de 55 años, residente de Dunellen, Nueva Jersey, falleció pacíficamente en su hogar el viernes 11 de abril de 2025, rodeada de su querida familia. Norma fue un alma hermosa, tanto por dentro como por fuera, que tocó innumerables vidas con su amabilidad, generosidad y calidez.
Nacida en San Salvador, El Salvador, el 3 de diciembre de 1969, Norma fue criada con sólidos valores familiares y un espíritu vibrante. Se mudó a Guazapa en 1991, donde continuó cultivando sus sueños y ambiciones. En el año 2000, Norma emigró valientemente a los Estados Unidos, haciendo de Dunellen, Nueva Jersey, su apreciado hogar durante los siguientes 25 años.
Apasionada y talentosa estilista, Norma inició su educación en el Colegio Miguel Servantes y más tarde se graduó de la Universidad Nacional de El Salvador. Profundizando su pasión por la belleza y la expresión personal, continuó sus estudios en la prestigiosa Academia LINA en San Salvador. Al llegar a Nueva Jersey, Norma se unió al salón de belleza de su suegra, Mercy's Beauty Salon, en Plainfield, convirtiéndose rápidamente en una figura muy querida en su comunidad. Motivada por su espíritu emprendedor y dedicación, Norma abrió su propio negocio, Norma’s Beauty Salon, en 2007. Sirvió orgullosamente a su comunidad, no solo como una estilista experta, sino también como amiga, confidente y oyente compasiva que hacía sentir cómodos y valorados a todos sus clientes.
La fe desempeñó un papel central en la vida de Norma. Fue una miembro activa y devota de la Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Plainfield, donde disfrutaba enormemente del estudio bíblico y la adoración. Siempre dispuesta a ayudar, Norma ofrecía generosamente su tiempo, colaborando en actividades de recaudación de fondos y otros eventos de la iglesia.
Norma abrazaba la vida con un entusiasmo y alegría incomparables. Disfrutaba enormemente de ir de compras, cuidar su jardín, decorar hermosamente su hogar y bailar con su música favorita. Viajar fue otra de sus grandes pasiones, destacando especialmente su viaje a Israel como una de sus experiencias más memorables. Apreciaba profundamente sus frecuentes visitas a su país natal, El Salvador, reconectándose con sus raíces, su familia y la vibrante cultura que tanto amaba.
Por encima de todo, la mayor alegría de Norma provenía del tiempo compartido con su familia, quienes lo significaban todo para ella. Fue una esposa entregada, una madre cariñosa y una abuela amorosa. Norma poseía la capacidad innata de hacer que todos los que conocía se sintieran especiales, bienvenidos y amados. Su risa era contagiosa y su corazón no conocía límites.
Norma fue precedida en la muerte por su padre, Rene Cuellar. Deja atrás un legado de amor y recuerdos entrañables. Le sobreviven su amado esposo, Douglas Rodríguez; sus dos queridos hijos, Evelyn S. Rodríguez y su esposo Edwin Morales, y Douglas A. Rodríguez; y sus preciosos nietos, Jowell Morales, Jordan Morales, Arianna Morales y otro nieto muy esperado que pronto llegará. También la recuerdan con cariño sus hermanos Giovanni, Erick, Walter y Miriam González por parte de su madre, y Gerson, Yennyfer, Marlon y Flor Cuellar por parte de su padre, así como su querida madre, María Mirian Rivas.
La visita tendrá lugar el miércoles 16 de abril de 2025, de 5:00 PM a 7:30 PM en Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, Nueva Jersey, con un servicio funerario a las 7:30 PM. Se llevará a cabo un segundo servicio en la funeraria el jueves 17 de abril de 2025, a las 10:00 AM, seguido por el sepelio en Fairview Cemetery, en Westfield, Nueva Jersey.

Norma Evelyn Cuellar-Rivas, 55, of Dunellen, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, April 11, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Norma was a beautiful soul, both inside and out, who touched countless lives with her kindness, generosity, and warmth.
Born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on December 3, 1969, Norma was raised with strong family values and a vibrant spirit. She moved to Guazapa in 1991, where she continued to nurture her dreams and ambitions. In 2000, Norma courageously immigrated to the United States, making Dunellen, New Jersey, her cherished home for the next 25 years.
A passionate and talented hairstylist, Norma began her education at Colegio Miguel Servantes and later graduated from the National University of El Salvador. Deepening her passion for beauty and personal expression, she furthered her education at the prestigious Academy LINA in San Salvador. Upon arriving in New Jersey, Norma joined her mother-in-law at Mercy's Beauty Salon in Plainfield, swiftly becoming a beloved figure in her community. Driven by her entrepreneurial spirit and dedication, Norma opened her own business, Norma’s Beauty Salon, in 2007. She proudly served her community, not only as an expert stylist but also as a friend, confidante, and compassionate listener who made every client feel comfortable and valued.
Faith played a central role in Norma’s life. She was an active and devoted member of Primera Iglesia Bautista Hispana de Plainfield, where she took great joy in Bible study and worship. Always willing to lend a helping hand, Norma volunteered her time generously, assisting with fundraising activities and other church events.
Norma embraced life with unparalleled enthusiasm and joy. She found great pleasure in shopping, gardening, decorating her home beautifully, and dancing to her favorite music. Travel was another passion of hers, with her journey to Israel standing out as one of her most memorable experiences. She cherished frequent visits back to her home country, El Salvador, reconnecting with her roots, family, and the vibrant culture she adored.
Above all, Norma's greatest joy came from spending time with her family, who meant everything to her. She was a devoted wife, an adoring mother, and a doting grandmother. Norma had an innate ability to make everyone she met feel special, welcomed, and loved. Her laughter was infectious, and her heart knew no bounds.
Norma was predeceased by her father, Rene Cuellar. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Surviving her are her beloved husband, Douglas Rodríguez; her two treasured children, Evelyn S. Rodríguez and her husband Edwin Morales, and Douglas A. Rodríguez; and her precious grandchildren, Jowell Morales, Jordan Morales, Arianna Morales, and another eagerly awaited grandchild soon to arrive. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings, Giovanni, Erick, Walter, and Miriam Gonzalez on her mother's side, and Gerson, Yennyfer, Marlon, and Flor Cuellar on her father's side, as well as her dear mother, Maria Mirian Rivas.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ, with a funeral service commencing at 7:30 PM. A second service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by entombment at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield, New Jersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Give.BCRF.org in Norma’s loving memory. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and beauty will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched.
