Dr Williams was my first therapist when I was a child. He was always very nice to me. My parents have known him for over 50 years. My Dad said any time they were at an NJPA function Dr. Williams always asked how I was. I last saw him on the night both he and my Dad (Dr. Joe Coyne) got the NJPA lifetime achievement award. My Mom came over and said “Let’s go surprise Dr. Williams. We didn’t tell him you were going to be here.” So we walked over, my Mom hugged him hello. He immediately said “Is Kelly here?” I walked up to him and gave him a big hug. He was an amazing person.

A Giant has fallen !
It is with great sadness that I read of the passing of Dr Daniel Williams.
He was my professor, my first therapist, my license supervisor and my friend - he knew my wife and my children.
The debt I owe him is incalculable. He will live on in my heart and in my house and I am better for having known him.
Those of us (with too much Jesuit education) say to him: "Ave atque Vale !" ("Hail and Farewell !")
Dr. Joe Coyne
Even before I dreamed of becoming a psychologist, Dr. Williams was pioneering the way, breaking down barriers to titles and positions held by others as a guarded privilege.
I and many others, stand on the shoulders of this giant in our chosen profession.
I had the honor to have been in Dr. Williams’ presence at NJABPsi meetings and events.
A great loss to the psychology community!
With sincerest condolences to Dr. Williams’ family, and with deep respect,
Dr. Patrice Dow-Nelson

Dr. Williams was a faculty member of the school psychology program at Montclair State College in the late 1960s when I was enrolled there. He supervised us as we did a rotation through all of the special education facilities of the Newark school system. I remember Dr. Williams as a professor who taught with wisdom, passion, and conviction. He opened our eyes to the lived experience of children coping with economic and environmental adversity. He often reminded us that not all the answers were to be found in "that little brown [WISC] kit."
He was truly one of NJPA’s luminaries.
My sincere condolences to the family.
Dr. Frank J. Dyer

I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Dr. Daniel E. Williams. He took principled and passionate stands against racial injustice throughout his career which manifest in a major contribution to psychology, psychologists, and the welfare of society. His obituary chronicles a life well-lived! My condolences to his family. Godspeed, Dr. Williams.

Dr. Williams is my ABPsi elder. He was always supportive of the students and embodied the kind-hearted spirit of a jegna. I loved seeing him at our national conferences. My favorite quote from him: "Anyone who believes in absolute objectivity is a subjective fool." To the family, thank you for sharing Dr. Williams with us. Rest in Power Dr. Williams. We pour for you and call your name in all libations. Ase
