Obituary of Dalton Edward Jordan

Dalton Edward Jordan

April 11, 1965 – May 19, 2025

Dalton Edward Jordan, a lifelong resident of Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. He was 60 years old.

Dalton was born in Plainfield, New Jersey on April 11, 1965, to his devoted parents, Dalton and Annie Jordan. He grew up in the city he would continue to call home throughout his life. After graduating from Plainfield High School, Dalton furthered his education at the Union County Vocational School in Scotch Plains, where he studied printing, including screen and sign printing.

In 2009, Dalton began working for the Plainfield Board of Education as a custodian. Known for his dedication and strong work ethic, Dalton took pride in his work and was considered a valued and reliable member of the staff. He was respected by colleagues and students alike for his consistency, warmth, and positive presence.

One of Dalton’s longest-standing roles—and one of his greatest joys—was serving as a caddy at the Plainfield Country Club. He began caddying as a teenager and remained part of the country club community for decades. Dalton was embraced and appreciated not only by the golfers he assisted but also by the entire staff at the club. His friendly nature, professionalism, and reliability earned him deep affection and respect from all who knew him there.

Dalton was baptized as a child at St. John’s Baptist Church in Scotch Plains. His faith and early church roots were an important part of his upbringing.

A true people person, Dalton loved being outdoors, especially riding his bicycle through the neighborhood and around town. He found joy in simple pleasures and was always up for a conversation with a familiar face—or even a new one. More than anything, Dalton loved his family. His kind heart, thoughtful nature, and steady presence were a constant source of support and love to those around him.

Dalton was predeceased by his beloved son, Dayon Jordan, in 2021. He is survived by his loving parents, Dalton and Annie Jordan; his brother, Ronnie Jordan, and his wife Kimberly; his sisters, Jeannette Gaffney and her husband Eugene, and Darlene Roberts and her husband Eric. He is also survived by his cherished nieces and nephew: Kaliyah, Tieem, Janine, and Erica.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation on Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ.
