Mary A. DeCanio Skribner, of Basking Ridge, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on May 28th. Mary was born on May 21, 1957, in Elmira, NY to Donold and Mary (Cardone)Pauldine.

A faith-filled, active, and free-spirited wife, mother, and sister, she is survived by her husband of 34 years, Thomas Skribner. She leaves her daughter, Olivia Knafo, son-in law, SimeonKnafo, sisters Gina Kumor of Warren, NJ; Alexis Castellana of Mount Pleasant SC; and brother John Pauldine of Mount Pleasant, SC.

Mary is a graduate of Elmira Free Academy, and University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Mary had a long and successful 40-year career at Mitsui & Company, New York, NY, where she was known for her focus, dependability and resourcefulness.

All who knew her, especially her husband, family and friends, found her to have a deep sense of curiosity, humor, and fun.  She lived and loved, and put her fullness into even the mundane.  One of the ways Mary enjoyed sharing her love was in cooking;she felt love was the most important ingredient to any recipe. Her cooking was the delight at many family gatherings.

If you wanted to get something done, Mary was the go-to person. Planning and execution were some of her greatest strengths; hence her family nickname – “The General”.

She was a devoted Catholic and left her legacy of faith, charity, and selflessness to her family. Her memory will be forever in our hearts.
