Obituary of Thomas H. Strowe
Thomas H. Strowe, 63, of Scotch Plains, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home on May 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on May 25, 1962, Tom was the son of the late Thomas H. Strowe and Phyllis J. Strowe. He was raised in Roselle Park and graduated from Roselle Park High School. In 1993, he settled in Scotch Plains, where he lived for the past 32 years.
Tom had a long and successful career with L'Oréal USA, where he worked for over 40 years, most recently holding the position of Senior Manager at their Franklin, New Jersey location. He retired in 2023, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and professionalism in the cosmetics industry.
Tom was a devoted husband to his wife, Karen (Maggio) Strowe, and a loving father to their son, Thomas J. Strowe, and his fiancée, Kylie Emerson. He was also a proud dog dad to his beloved German Shepherd named Mary. Family meant everything to Tom, and his relationships were at the heart of his life. He was known for his quiet strength, gentle nature, and great sense of humor.
Tom enjoyed the simple pleasures in life—fishing, attending classic rock concerts, following sports, discussing politics and history with his son, and spending time at the horse races. His wisdom and insightful conversations made him a joy to be around, and he touched the lives of many with his kindness and humility.
He was a man of faith and a parishioner of St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in Plainfield, New Jersey.
In addition to his wife and son, Tom is survived by his brother, Gary Strowe and his sister, Deborah Goy both of whom he loved very much. He also loved his father-in-law, Joseph D. Maggio, Sr. and his mother-in-law Beverly F. Maggio (deceased in 2018); and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and close friends.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Bernard of Clairvaux and St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, 368 Sumner Avenue, Plainfield, NJ. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, New Jersey.
