Rose Cavaliere Obituary

Rose Cavaliere, of Warren, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 97. She departed this life in the same home lovingly built by her father and brothers, where she spent her final years surrounded by the memories and comfort she so deeply cherished.

Born on April 22, 1928, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Rose was the daughter of Girolamo Cavaliere and Dora Bovino. A lifelong New Jersey resident, she graduated from Kean University and went on to dedicate her professional life to education. Rose was a beloved middle school teacher in Warren, NJ, where she influenced generations of students through her dedication, patience, and wisdom.

Rose had a deep love for the simple joys of life. She took great pride in her garden, thoughtfully tending to her flowerbeds season after season. An avid reader, Rose also loved entertaining guests and sharing good food and warm conversation. She had a cherished tradition of gathering weekly with her girlfriends—first at the hairdresser, followed by card games and lunch outings. These rituals were highlights of her week and reminders of the close bonds she nurtured throughout her life.

When her mother passed away, Rose naturally assumed the role of caretaker for her father and brothers, seamlessly managing the household and preparing home-cooked meals with loving care. Her devotion continued long after her father’s passing, as she lovingly maintained the home and cared for her brothers Len and Joe until their final days. Rose was fiercely independent, enjoyed her shopping outings, and remained sharp and strong-willed well into her later years.

For many years, Rose was supported by a circle of dedicated caregivers. Special thanks go to Noris Reyes and Dignora Sarmientos, who assisted her daily with compassion and respect. Michael Neoushoff, her devoted advocate, oversaw all home, medical, and personal affairs—coordinating the many moving parts of her care with diligence and heartfelt commitment. Together, this team helped Rose remain in the comfort of her own home, fulfilling her greatest wish.

Rose will also be remembered for the lifelong friendships that meant so much to her. She stayed closely connected with Betti Evegan, and held a special bond to Betti’s daughter Judith and their entire family, with whom she shared countless holidays and memories. Her neighbor and friend Arline Claxton would keep in touch weekly with calls, and Len’s dear friend Joe Kuhl would frequently call and occasionally visit to check in on Rose, always keeping her in his thoughts.

Rose was an example of resilience, grace, and unwavering loyalty to those she loved. She leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, selflessness, and a life lived with purpose and heart.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 11:30 AM at Hillside Cemetery, Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
