Edmundo Quichua Obituary

Edmundo Vicente Quichua

January 22, 1950 – September 1, 2025

Edmundo "Ed" Vicente Quichua, 75, of Watchung, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on January 22, 1950, in Lima, Peru, Edmundo spent his early years in Lima before immigrating to the United States in 1979. He first made his home in Piscataway and later lived in Plainfield and South Plainfield, where he and his wife raised their family achieving the ultimate American Dream. Five years ago, Edmundo and his wife moved to Watchung to be closer to their daughter and her family.

Edmundo proudly served his adopted country as a member of the United States Army Reserves from 1984 to 1990. He went on to build a long and successful career as a logistics operator with Reckitt Benckiser in Belle Mead, New Jersey. He worked with dedication and commitment for 25 years until his retirement in 2017.

While not a parishioner himself, Edmundo often joined his daughter and her family at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church in Watchung for important occasions, such as baptisms and other milestones, always supporting and celebrating with his loved ones.

Edmundo enjoyed the simple joys of life. He loved nature walks, hiking, watching movies, and above all, cooking everything and anything for his family. He was their official handyman, known affectionately as “Mr. Fix It,” he had an impressive knowledge of electrical work, automobiles, and all things mechanical around the house. He was also an avid sports enthusiast, with a particular love for soccer.

Family was at the center of everything Edmundo did. He was a devoted grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his five grandchildren that called him either Pa or Abuelito. He also found great joy in traveling the world, having explored nearly every continent and dozens of countries (Canada, China, France, Greece, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Morocco, Peru, Portugal, Russia, South Africa, South Korea, and the UK). Among his many memorable trips, his family fondly recalls their time together in Mykonos and Santorini just last year.

Edmundo will be remembered for his hard work, devotion to family, and his adventurous spirit. He is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Glenny; his son, Dwight, and his wife, Kristen; his daughter, Leslie McAllister, and her husband, Robert; and his five loving grandchildren, Ethan, Luca, Isla, Eva, and Rhys.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2025, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 5, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Roman Catholic Church in Watchung, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Edmundo.
