David L. Walker Obituary

David L. Walker, age 89, of Green Brook, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September

22, 2025, at his home.

Born on June 12, 1936, in Crisfield, Maryland, David was the beloved son of Edgie and Rebecca

Walker. He spent his early years in Crisfield before moving to Rahway, New Jersey, where he

graduated from Jefferson High School. After graduation, he answered the call to serve in the

United States Army in Korea. Assigned to communications, he worked on wiring

telephone poles, a skill that would serve him well in civilian life. Following his honorable

discharge, David embarked on a long and distinguished career with Western Electric, which later

became AT&T. He worked his way up through the company and retired as a manager with AT&T

in Morristown, New Jersey.

Though David was not raised in the Catholic faith, later in life he undertook the full Catholic

sacramental preparation at Our Lady of the Mount Church in Warren, New Jersey, embracing

these spiritual milestones with the same commitment he showed throughout his life.

David was a natural tinkerer. He had a gift for fixing things and could always be counted on to

repair whatever needed attention. His practical skills and patience made him the one everyone

turned to when something wasn’t working. After retiring, he also developed a hobby of raising

finches, caring for the small birds brought him great joy and peace.

With his wife, Margaret J. “Peggy” Walker (predeceased in 2020), David shared many years of

laughter, love, and adventure. For about 40 years, they maintained a home in Safety Harbor,

Florida, visiting there at least twice each year and building memories that spanned seasons and

generations.

One of David’s greatest joys was time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is

survived by his children, David L. Walker, Timothy A. Walker, and his wife Karen, and Nancy

Rudy and her husband, Thomas. He is also survived by his honorary daughter, Bette Duddy, and

her family. David was the proud grandfather of Casie, Jillian, Caroline, Ryan, Tyler, and Jesse.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Higgins Home

curiosity, and his love for family. He leaves behind a legacy of service to his country, to his
