Salvatore Labisi Obituary

Salvatore Labisi, 90, of Warren, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 24, 2025.

Born in Brooklyn, New York on June 26, 1935, to the late Joseph and Jenny Labisi, Salvatore grew up in Brooklyn and made his home for most of his life in the Bensonhurst section. A dedicated and hardworking man, Salvatore spent his career as a printer with the Local 119B–43B Graphic Communications International Union. Though unforeseen circumstances led him to retire earlier than planned, he embraced retirement with energy and purpose.

Salvatore established a daily routine that he carried throughout most of the rest of his life—going to the gym each morning, meeting his friends afterward for breakfast, and returning home to run errands or care for his car. He also enjoyed tending to his garden and was a devoted New York Yankees fan. But, he especially loved spending time with family who lovingly referred to him as “Papa Sal”.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Fenizia "Fanny" Labisi; his two children, Jeanne Alessio and her husband Steven, and Joseph Labisi and his wife Nancy; his cherished grandchildren, Jessica Alessio Loux and her husband Wayne, Samantha Alessio Crist and her husband David, Jenna Labisi Aldarondo and her husband Daniel, and Joseph Labisi and his wife Bridget; and his treasured great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Mason, Caroline, Cormac "Mac", Isabelle, Nicholas, and Maura. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lena Labisi. Salvatore was predeceased by his brother, Paul Labisi.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 28, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, New Jersey. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 29, at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church in Martinsville, New Jersey, followed by interment at Moravian Cemetery in Staten Island, New York.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Sal’s loving memory to the Center for Hope Hospice in Scotch Plains which provided such wonderful care in his last months or to his favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
