DR. DAVID ROBERT OSHIN (1931-2025)

Dr. David R. Oshin was born in Newark, New Jersey to Byrdie and Meyer Oshin, the younger brother of Arnold Oshin.  He was a graduate of Marietta College in Ohio and the Chicago Medical School.   After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Oshin served in the U.S. Navy as a physician, stationed in Portsmouth, Virginia.   

Dr. Oshin married Marion Oshin in 1958, and after he was honorably discharged from the Navy, settled in Plainfield New Jersey and later Warren, New Jersey, where they raised their three children, Debra (born 1961),  Jeffrey, (born 1964) and Peter (born 1966).  

Dr. Oshin practiced in the field of urology, with offices in Plainfield and North Plainfield, and affiliations at Muhlenberg Hospital, Raritan Valley Hospital, and JFK Medical Center.   His recreational pursuits included fishing, tennis and golf.   He was also an avid reader.  He was privileged to have traveled all over the world, but his most treasured vacation spot was in Quechee, Vermont.

The Oshin family tragically lost Marion to cancer in 2010.  Dr. Oshin saw Marion through her long illness with extraordinary care and compassion. 

Dr. Oshin married Evelyn Null in 2013, and accompanied by Evie, he was again privileged to have visited many places as he enjoyed his retirement, but for both Evie and David, none more special than Quechee. When David became infirmed in his later years, it was Evie who saw him through his illness with extraordinary care and compassion. 

Dr. Oshin, age 94 at the time of his death, lived a long and fulfilling life.  He is survived by his three children and Mrs. Null, along with grandchildren Rivka, Adam, Dani, Yoni, Aliza and Liana.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Prostate Cancer Foundation or the Chicago Medical School (now Rosalind Franklin University), through the links below.
