A. Michael Salzer, III February 15, 1971 – October 24, 2025
A. Michael Salzer, III, passed away on October 24, 2025, in Istanbul, Turkey, where he was receiving medical care. Throughout his illness, Michael faced his challenges with unwavering courage and strength. His determination and faith to heal reflect the same perseverance he presented in life.
Born on February 15, 1971, in South Plainfield, New Jersey, Michael lived a remarkable and successful life filled with hard work, adventure, and a boundless love for his family and all nature had to offer. He was a graduate of South Plainfield High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Processes and Disorders and Master of Arts in Audiology from the University of Florida. He later achieved his Doctor of Audiology degree from the Arizona School of Health and Sciences. He dedicated his professional life to providing quality and compassionate care to his patients to receive the gift of better hearing.
From 1989 to 1998, Michael lived in North Florida, where his education and love for the outdoors flourished. From 1999 to 2015, he resided at the Jersey shore, where he married his soulmate and long-time friend, his two precious daughters were born, and he founded New Jersey Audiology, and served as the owner and Doctor of Audiology. He filled his life outside of work with his love for fishing, gardening, and family time, all while enjoying life on the bay with his family.
From 2015 to 2021, he and his wife fulfilled their dream of moving to an island. In Hawaii, he “rewired” and became an organic farmer and gardener. He furthered his adventures in hunting and water activities and enjoyed spending time on the island’s beaches. In 2019, he and his wife founded Pono Academy, a learning program for children with autism, where he served as the Director of Development and built out the program’s spaces perfectly according to his wife’s vision.
Michael channeled his creativity into a new chapter as a real estate investor and builder in 2021, transforming homes with his craftsmanship while dividing his time between Hawaii and Florida.
Michael was a true jack-of-all-trades and continued to display a mastery of many. His passion for hunting and gathering was evident in the meals he created and cooked that were savored by family and friends. Whether building something with his hands or spending time outdoors, he approached every project with dedication and skill.
Above all, Michael adored his family. Nothing brought him greater joy than watching his daughters perform on stage, celebrating while being surrounded by laughter, or sharing adventures with his long-time friend, partner, and wife, DeAnne. His love, pride, and admiration for his family were evident in everything he did.
Michael is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 26 years, DeAnne Salzer; his gifted and cherished daughters, Gianina and Calilynn Salzer; his sibling, Deborah Miller; and many extended family and friends, who will forever treasure his memory. He was predeceased by his father, A. Michael Salzer II, his mother, Dorthea Salzer, and his infant brother, Gregory Salzer.
Michael’s life was one of courage, determination, and joy. Those who knew him will remember his charm, laughter, and friendship. His spirit lives on in every garden he planted, every meal he cooked, and every heart he touched. On October 24, 2025, “We lost a great one”.
