Rose Molnar, 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at her home in Warren, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on September 11, 1933, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, Rose was the daughter of Italian immigrants John and Concetta D’Imperio. She was raised in a close-knit, hardworking household alongside her older brother, who was born in Italy. Elizabeth remained an important part of her identity, its traditions, its parish life, and its sense of community all shaped the woman she became.
Rose graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Elizabeth. It was also in Elizabeth that she truly came to know the love of her life, Raymond Stephen Molnar. Though they had known each other growing up, their story took a heartfelt turn when Raymond returned from serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. At a church dance held after his homecoming, he asked her to go out with him, a moment that began a lifelong love. They married at St. Michael’s Church in Elizabeth and went on to build a large, beautiful family together, raising seven children in under ten years. Rose was the heart of the household, an exceptional homemaker whose warmth, patience, and devotion created a home overflowing with love.
When her youngest children were in grade school, Rose returned to the workforce, serving as a lab assistant at Union County College. She worked there from 1974 to 1984 and was known for her kindness, strong work ethic, and calming presence with both students and staff.
Rose’s faith was one of the defining pillars of her life. As a girl, she received her sacraments at St. Michael’s Church in Elizabeth, and after moving to Cranford, she continued her devotion at another parish of the same name, St. Michael’s in Cranford. For the past 28 years, as a resident of Warren, she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church. She was also a more than 40-year member of the People of Hope, where she served on the leadership team. Her spiritual life guided everything she did, her generosity, her compassion, and the deep love she poured into her family.
Rose was also known for her extraordinary talents in the kitchen. Her Italian meals, made with tradition, instinct, and love, became the centerpiece of countless family gatherings. Yet more than anything, her greatest joy in life was her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were truly the treasures of her heart.
Rose was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Stephen Molnar. She is survived by her children Steve, Bill and his wife Lynn, Mary Beth Quense and her husband John, Barbara Wessel and her husband Jim, Ben and his wife Mary Margaret, Jim and his wife Anne, and Jane Apuzzo and her husband Mike, and by her 42 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, December 7, from 3 to 7 PM at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, New Jersey.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 9, at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, followed by interment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery in Watchung.
Rose’s life was one of faith, devotion, and unwavering love, and the legacy she leaves behind spans generations. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
