In his personal life, George found joy in citizens band radio, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, whose guidance and presence will be deeply missed.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Betty J. Byrd, in 2003, as well as by all of his siblings.
