Dolores Cerwinski, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at CareOne Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Bridgewater, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.
Dolores was born on July 2, 1938, in Brooklyn, New York, to the late John and Sophie Kujawa. She grew up in Brooklyn and on Long Island, and in 1962 she moved to Warren, New Jersey with her husband, John. It was there that they built their home, raised their family, and remained for the rest of their lives, forming lasting friendships and deep roots within the community.
Earlier in her life, Dolores worked in the banking industry, holding positions at several banks. After the birth of her children, she devoted herself fully to raising her family, a role she cherished deeply. Once her children were grown, Dolores returned to the workforce and began a long and dedicated career with Warren Township, working in the Construction Department for over 20 years until her retirement.
Dolores found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed shopping at the mall, getting her hair and nails done, taking trips to the Jersey Shore, and traveling to Aruba, where she and her husband created many treasured family memories. She was an active and devoted mother, involved in her sons’ lives through family camping trips, often traveling together with their camper. Above all else, Dolores loved spending time with her grandchildren, family, friends, and neighbors — those everyday moments meant the most to her.
Dolores was predeceased by her beloved husband, John, in 2021, and by her brother, John.
She is survived by her two sons, John Cerwinski and his wife Jane and their children John Michael, Christopher and Sean of Warren, and Mark Cerwinski and his wife Andrea and their children Amanda, Allison and Mark of Clinton.
A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, New Jersey. Burial services will be held privately.
Dolores will be remembered for her quiet strength, her devotion to her family, and the warmth she brought to all who knew her.
