Margaret Marrone (Long)
December 12, 1941 – January 5, 2026
Margaret Marrone (Long), lovingly known to many as Peggy, passed away peacefully after a full and beautiful life devoted to family, friendship, and generosity. She was born on December 12, 1941, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, and later made her home in Elizabeth, Mountainside, then Warren, NJ.
Peggy was predeceased by her beloved husband, Pat Marrone, with whom she shared a life of partnership and adventure. Together, they built not only a family, but a community around them.
She is survived by her devoted daughters, Tricia Paolella and her husband, Anthony, and Kim Cullen and her husband, David; her sister, Colleen Cooper, and her husband, Tom; and her brother, Kevin Long, and his wife, Gloria.
Peggy was a proud and loving grandmother to Marissa Carracino and her husband Anthony, Alana Paolella, Emma Cullen, and Patrick Cullen, and a cherished great-grandmother to Santino.
To friends and family, she was known by many nicknames—Peggy, Peg, PJ, Peej, P—but the name that meant the most to her was “Nan.” She was a devoted grandmother who loved her family above all else, finding her greatest happiness in time spent with her grandchildren who were the true joy of her life.
Peggy lived a wonderful life. Alongside her husband Pat, she opened the Gaslight Restaurant in Elizabeth, a gathering place where friendships were made and memories were shared. The two also shared a passion for horses, owning a horse farm and traveling extensively to horse shows. Peggy was the heart of every holiday, hosting large family gatherings and creating traditions that will live on for generations. Summers were often spent renting shore houses, where she welcomed all of her family and made lasting memories by the beach.
Peggy also loved to dance, bringing her joy and energy to every celebration. An avid traveler with an elegant sense of style, she embraced life fully and generously. Her warmth, grace, and open heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
Her legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the traditions she created, and the family she held together. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
