Barbara J. Meyer, 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home in New Brunswick, New Jersey.
Born on July 11, 1937, in Plainfield, New Jersey, Barbara was the beloved daughter of the late Dorothy and William Ammon. She spent much of her life in Middlesex, New Jersey, where she and her devoted husband, Joseph, became well-established and respected members of the community.
Barbara possessed a remarkable love for animals, a passion that led her to found Happy Paws Obedience School, which she proudly operated for many years. Through her work, she helped countless families build stronger bonds with their beloved pets. In addition, she worked as a sales associate for Avon, where her vibrant personality and natural warmth made her a favorite among customers and friends alike.
Above all else, Barbara’s greatest joy was her home. It was her sanctuary, her pride, and truly her castle. She devoted herself to decorating every corner to perfection — ensuring that everything sparkled and shined. She may very well have been the only person with a glass chandelier in her kitchen, a perfect reflection of her distinctive style and love of elegance. Her home was not simply a place to live, but a beautiful expression of who she was.
Barbara carried that same flair into her own appearance. Her family fondly remembers her always dressed impeccably — decked out to the nines in glittering outfits that sparkled as brightly as her personality. She took pride in presenting herself with grace, style, and a touch of glamour.
Barbara and her beloved husband Joseph shared 67 wonderful years of marriage, building a life centered on love, devotion, and the comforts of home. The two cherished spending time together in the home they so lovingly created.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph Meyer; her two brothers, Rev. William Ammon and Kenneth Ammon; and her four cherished nieces, Anita Brower, Linda Salvatore, Donna Turlik, and Dawn Rosati. She was predeceased by her sisters, Linda Bizzarro and Nancy Robinson.
Funeral services will be held privately at Higgins Home For Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, New Jersey.
Barbara will be remembered for her elegance, her sparkling spirit, her love of animals, and the beautiful home and life she created for those she loved.
