Stanley Schneider Obituary
Mr. Stanley Schneider, 83, passed away peacefully, on March 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of devoted family life, military service, and decades of selfless commitment to his community.
Stanley was born in East Orange, New Jersey, to the late Ernest and Anna Schneider. He was raised in Newark, New Jersey, where he attended Westside High School. In 1960, shortly after graduating, Stanley proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served his country honorably from 1961 to 1965 as an Aircraft Maintenance specialist with the 100th Field Maintenance Squadron at Pease Air Force Base. He attained the rank of Airman First Class (A1C E-4) and received an Honorable Discharge for his service.
Following his military service, Stanley began his professional career and family life. He and his wife first lived in Union, New Jersey, where they began raising their family. In 1972, they moved to Green Brook, New Jersey, where Stanley would spend more than five decades building a life deeply rooted in family and community.
Stanley enjoyed a long and successful career as an Accountant and Purchasing Agent with Bell Labs (Bellcore), where he worked for 28 years. He was known among colleagues for his dedication and reliability, maintaining perfect attendance while simultaneously raising four children and remaining actively involved in community service.
His commitment to public service became one of the defining aspects of his life. Stanley proudly served the Green Brook Volunteer Fire Department and the Green Brook Firemen’s Exempts for 41 years, from 1972 until 2013. During that time, he held numerous leadership roles, including Treasurer and President. He also served as a Delegate to the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association.
Beyond the fire department, Stanley devoted countless hours to improving the Green Brook community. He served as Chairman of the Green Brook Planning and Zoning Board and as Chairman of the Green Brook Recreation Committee. He also supported youth athletics, serving as Treasurer for Green Brook Little League and Washington Rock Pop Warner. In recognition of his lifelong dedication to community service, Stanley was honored with the 2012 Alvin P. Kappelmann Volunteer of the Year Award.
Stanley was also a member of the Green Brook Lions Club, the Green Brook Senior Citizen Center, and the Dunellen Presbyterian Church. Whether supporting local causes, youth programs, or organizations assisting the vision and hearing impaired, Stanley consistently gave his time and energy to helping others.
Above all, Stanley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and family man. Those who knew him will remember him as a dedicated, selfless, and humble man who always placed the needs of his family and community before his own. He was also an avid New York Giants fan and remained deeply proud of his service as a veteran of the United States Air Force.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn Schneider (née Eberhardt); his loving children, Pamela Schneider and her husband Kevin Logan; Kenneth Schneider and his wife Maureen Schneider; Daniel Schneider and his wife Lauren Martin; and William Schneider and his wife Amanda Schneider. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren, Raymond Pisack, Kyle Pisack, Evan Schneider, Jeremy Schneider, Mia Schneider, Lilah Schneider, and Owen Schneider, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Anna Schneider, and by his brother, Roger Schneider, who passed away on January 9, 2026.
Stanley’s life was defined by service, integrity, and a deep commitment to the people around him. His contributions to the Green Brook community and the organizations he served will be remembered for generations.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Green Brook Volunteer Fire Department or the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association, causes that reflect Stanley’s lifelong dedication to service.
