Alicia Acosta Obituary

Alicia Acosta, 84

With deep love and sorrow, we share the passing of Alicia Acosta, who entered eternal rest at the age of 84 on April 2, 2026.

Alicia was born on January 25, 1942, in Quito, Ecuador, to Jose and Francisca Chafart. She was raised there and carried with her strong faith, resilience, and deep devotion to family throughout her life. She trained as a nurse and spent many years in Ecuador caring for others with compassion.

In 1969, she moved to the United States and began building a new life in New Jersey. With determination, she became a licensed beautician and worked as a stylist and manager at Tech-Hair in Irvington. She was loved by her clients for her talent, warmth, and joyful spirit.

Alicia’s faith was central to who she was. As a devoted Roman Catholic, she lived her beliefs through kindness, generosity, and love for others.

Her greatest pride was her family. She was the heart of it, bringing everyone together and creating lasting traditions. Birthdays were always celebrated at her home, and holidays were filled with laughter and Ecuadorian traditions. She especially cherished the Christmas Novena and preparing fanesca on Good Friday.

Alicia was generous beyond measure. She helped those in need, supported loved ones, and opened her home to anyone who needed comfort or care.

She loved life and found joy in laughter, travel, and time spent with her family. Trips together, especially cruises and visits to places like Aruba and Hawaii, became treasured memories.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eduardo Galo Acosta. Together, they built a life centered on love and family. She is survived by her loving children: Patricia DePinho and her husband John; Paulina Lara and her husband Jorge; Eduardo Acosta and his wife Evelyn; Marlon Acosta and his wife Eva; Elizabeth Vassallo and her husband Jan; and Omar Acosta. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Michael, George, Sarah, Johnny, Samantha, and her husband Yusuf, Megan, Patty, Eddie, Matthew, Michael, Isabella, Gianna, Valentina, Preston, and Hudson; and her two great-grandchildren, Leo and Olivia. She is further survived by her siblings, Jose Stalin Chafart and Francisca Yanez.

Alicia’s life was a gift to all who knew her. Her love, strength, and spirit will live on in the hearts of her family forever.

Memorial donations may be made in her honor to the American Liver Foundation.
