Pilar “Vidal” Maldonado Andrade, 85, of Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at JFK Hospital in Edison, New Jersey. He was born on October 12, 1940, in Tela, Honduras, and built a life defined by hard work, love, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Pilar was a highly skilled tradesman who worked in construction for over 30 years and was widely respected as a master brick mason. His craftsmanship can be seen throughout Plainfield and across New Jersey, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the communities he helped build. In addition to his work in construction, he was a longshoreman and proudly served in the Honduran military. Pilar was known for his kindness, warmth, and his natural ability to connect with others.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Donna Marie Johnson-Maldonado; his loving children, Carmen Andrade Caballero, Arely Andrade Caballero, Alideth Maldonado Caballero, Ana Maricela Maldonado, Alma Waldina Maldonado, Elder Maldonado, Jose Luis Andrade Caballero, and Guillermo Mejia Caballero; and his cherished grandchildren, Aslin, Natalie, Genesis, Mariela, Maria Jose, Scarleth, Ana Marcela, Cinthia, Kevin Josue, Jose Luis, Fernando, Guillermo Enrique, Elder Eduardo, Charles Javier, Elkin Leonardo, Cristopher Edilberto.
Pilar will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his remarkable craftsmanship, his strength, and the love he shared with his family and friends.
