Leo J. Reubelt Obituary

Leo J. Reubelt, age 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2026. He was born and raised in Newark, NJ, and had been a resident of Warren since 1954.

Mr. Reubelt was an active communicant of Our Lady of the Mount in Warren and subsequently of Saint Mary's Stony Hill in Watchung.

A graduate of St. Benedict's Prep in Newark and the Tool Design program at Newark College of Engineering, Leo was a gifted Tool and Die Maker. He started his career as an apprentice at Eckert Tool and Die in Springfield where he spent more than 30 years. He retired from Veeco, where he ran the machine shop that produced precision parts used in the manufacture of semiconductors, before starting his own business, Leo Reubelt & Associates, LLC. Leo was always happiest "making chips" and listening to Christmas music in his shop.

Leo was handy, and always ready to help out with projects around the house or automotive repairs. Together with his father, a carpenter, he built their Warren home when he was in high school.

Above all else, Leo loved his family. He met and married the love of his life, Marion, after mailing her anonymous poetry for weeks. His children and grandchildren were his greatest pride and joy. He was a tireless caretaker who would do anything for his family.

Mr. Reubelt is predeceased by his beloved wife, Marion Reubelt, as well as his brothers-in-law, Walter Cuba, Paul Wrazien, T.A. Balan, and Charlie Grzeszkiewicz and his nephew, Anthony Balan.

He is survived by his son, Leo M., his daughter, Diane Kiel and her husband Thomas, his grandchildren, Alexander, Joseph, and Madeline Kiel, his sister, Marilyn Balan, his sisters-in-law, Regina Grzeszkiewicz, Barbara Wrazien and Cynthia Cuba, his brother-in-law, Edward Cuba and his wife Josephine, and many, many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, at 10:00 am at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Church, 225 Mountain Blvd., Watchung, NJ 07069, followed by entombment at St. Mary’s Stony Hill Cemetery.
