Diane Rochelle Coney Obituary

Diane Rochelle Coney passed away suddenly at her home on April 15, 2026. She was 69 years old.

Born on August 5, 1956, in Orange, New Jersey, Diane was the daughter of the late Amos and Henrietta Brown. She spent her early years growing up in the Vauxhall neighborhood of Union, New Jersey, a place that remained very special to her throughout her life. It was there that Diane formed many of the lifelong friendships she cherished, growing up in a close-knit neighborhood where the children played together and the bonds they created endured for many years. She was a graduate of Union High School.

Later, Diane’s family relocated to Plainfield, New Jersey, where she would spend the remainder of her life. Plainfield became the place where she put down deep roots, raised her family, and became a valued part of the community she called home.

Diane was known for her strong work ethic and for being someone others could always count on. She began her career with Sears, working in the Human Resources Department at the Route 22 location, where she was a dedicated and valued employee for many years. She later continued her professional career with Parker Interior Plantscape in Scotch Plains, where she worked for nearly 20 years. In every role she held, Diane was respected for her reliability, confidence, and commitment, as well as the steady and dependable presence she brought to those around her.

Outside of work, Diane found happiness in life’s simple but meaningful pleasures. She enjoyed listening to music, going to the movies, and sharing dinners out with family and friends. More than anything, she treasured time spent with her family, especially her beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy.

Diane also had a true love of shopping, whether it meant browsing through a favorite local department store or finding something special online. It was one of the things that always brought her excitement and enjoyment. Among her many traditions, one of Diane’s greatest joys was watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade each year. She never missed it. For Diane, the arrival of Santa Claus at the close of the parade was always an especially moving moment, often bringing her to tears. To her, it was a beautiful symbol of the holiday season beginning, a time of year she deeply loved and looked forward to.

Diane was predeceased by her parents, Amos and Henrietta Brown, as well as by her siblings, Denise Warney and Darroll Brown.

She leaves behind her loving daughters, Jade Goins and her husband, Keenan, and Jasmine Johnson and her husband, Louis. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Jayla Leary and Giselle Goins; her niece, Ashley Warney and her daughter, Arianna; her nephew, Jameel Warney; and a host of extended family members and dear friends who will all miss her deeply.
