Marjorie Winneg ""Marge"" Cohen Obituary

Marjorie Eunice Cohen, beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong educator, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, at the age of 90. She was born on June 3, 1935, in Brockton, Massachusetts, to Janet and William Winneg, and was the cherished wife of the late Robert Cohen.


Marjorie dedicated her career to nurturing young minds, teaching preschool through third grade with patience, creativity, and joy. Her students remember her kindness and gentle encouragement, qualities that defined her both in and outside the classroom.


A graduate of Brown University with a degree in Art History, Marjorie carried her love for culture into every aspect of her life. She found joy in traveling, attending the symphony, and celebrating the arts. Her curiosity and appreciation for beauty never faded.


A long‑time member of Temple Sholom—joining when it was located in Plainfield—she remained an active and devoted part of the congregation after its move to Scotch Plains.


Marjorie is survived by her son, David; daughter‑in‑law, Debra; and grandson, Gabe.


Funeral services will be held at Temple Sholom in Scotch Plains on Monday, April 20, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.


She will be remembered as a generous, giving person whose warmth and spirit touched everyone who knew her.
