Arthur Collier passed away at his home in Plainfield, New Jersey, on Saturday, May 9, 2026.

Arthur was born on June 25, 1954, in Cross City, Florida, to the late Charlie and Rose Lee Collier. He grew up in Cross City Florida and graduated from Dixie County high school, where he played football. His love for the game stayed with him throughout his life, and he always enjoyed watching his favorite teams play.

After spending his early years in Florida, Arthur moved to Plainfield over 30 years ago, where he made his home and became well known to many in the community. He was a hardworking man with a strong work ethic and a willingness to help others. Throughout his life, Arthur held many different jobs, including working for USI Utility Company in Gainesville Florida for 10 years and served at his local church as a deacon. For many years, he also worked as a handyman, serving his community with excellent work and a reputation for being responsible, dependable, and fair. He was known as someone who never took advantage of his clients and took pride in doing things the right way.

Arthur had a warm and memorable personality. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, had a fondness for old movies, and loved music, especially his favorite artist, Snoop Dogg. One of his favorite hobbies was playing the guitar, which allowed him to share that love with many different church’s. More than anything, he enjoyed being around his family, sharing jokes, and bringing laughter to those around him. His family affectionately knew him by the nickname “Jamison,” a name lovingly given to him by his beloved niece, Dana.

Arthur is survived by his daughter, Candace Collier; three grandchildren; Re’Niyah Brown, Myrah Crum and McKinley Keith III. One great granddaughter Lay’Yonni Brown. He is also survived by six nieces; Barbara Ann Williams, Gwen Mitchell, (no longer living Darriel Martin), Renee Sanderson, Patricia Williams, and Dana Gore-Nelson. Two nephews; Charles Williams and Jeremiah Hodge. Along with many great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as a host of extended family members and loving friends. Proceeded in death by two sisters; Charlie Mae Collier and Ann Gore

Cremation services will be held privately. A memorial/ repass will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at Plainfield Towers West, 601 West 7th Street in Plainfield, hosted by the family.
