Mary Lita Teresa DeFlavis Sorensen passed into the Lord's hands on May 2, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 13, 1932, and lived in Warren, New Jersey, since 1964. A cradle-to-grave devout Catholic, Mary loved the everyday gifts of life and brought faith into daily duty. In her vocation as wife and mother, she was a steady source of prayer, encouragement, and love, especially through her deep devotion to her family and her belief that death is not the end, but a passage into God's care.

Mary lightheartedly claimed pew 1, left seats, at St. Mary’s – Stoney Hill Church, as hers.

Mary was known for the things that made life joyful and close: she adored Mah Jong games, cherished trips to New York City with friends, and especially treasured time with her grandchildren, who were a bright light in her life.

Her warmth and reliability extended into her work as well: she excelled as an Executive Assistant, and she was often described as a company mother-the person who noticed what needed to be done, helped others succeed, and created a spirit of care and steadiness.

These were not "separate" parts of her life; they were expressions of the same character - faithful, hardworking, and generous.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Harry Sorensen (passed April 11, 2025). She is survived by her daughter, Karen (Husband - Ron) , and her sons, Rob (Wife - Joanne), Chris, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

At Mary's retirement ceremony, she was asked to speak. Her words to the audience of 100 gathered for her -

"Thank you, now you can go home".

Mom, thank you, we all love you, now you can go home to God.

A prayer gathering will take place for the inurnment at Somerset Hills Memorial Park, 95 Mt. Airy Road, Basking Ridge, NJ 07920 at 2:00 PM on May 19, 2026 (Tuesday).
