Barbara Williams Obituary

Barbara Ann Williams (née Amos), passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026, in Plainfield, New Jersey. She was born on December 9, 1938, at Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey, and was raised there alongside her beloved younger sister, Sandy.

Barbara attended PS #22 and graduated from Snyder High School before earning a degree in teaching. She began her professional career working with young children before later serving as a receptionist for AT&T, IEEE, and Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield.

While visiting Blackstone, Virginia, Barbara met the love of her life, Claude Williams. The two were married in 1964 and made their home in Plainfield, New Jersey, where they lovingly raised their three sons. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother who instilled structure, respect, and strong values within her family.

A woman of deep and unwavering faith, Barbara was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness whose spirituality guided every aspect of her life. Following the passing of her husband, she later resided in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, and Mesa, Arizona, where she enjoyed the warmth of the Arizona sun and the companionship of her congregation. In March of 2025, she returned to Plainfield to be near her family.

Barbara cherished her role as a grandmother and great-grandmother and especially treasured the time she was able to spend with her great-granddaughter, Kaiya, during her final year.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Claude Williams, and her sister, Sandy. Barbara is survived by her loving sons, Claude Tony Williams, Scott Williams, and Van Williams; her 8 grandchildren; her great-granddaughter, Kaiya; her niece, Tracy; her nephew, Terrance; and many extended family members, friends, and members of her spiritual brotherhood.
