Satish Gera Obituary

Satish Chander Gera, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Somerset, NJ, on May 31, 2026. He was born in Karanpur, India and immigrated to the United States residing first in Skokie, IL, before settling in Montville, NJ, where he raised his family, and later retiring in Somerset, NJ.

Satish was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend who made a difference in hundreds of lives. He led by example in everything he did, demonstrating a strong work ethic and a deep commitment to living a healthy life. He kept an active lifestyle through gardening, swimming, tennis, and yoga. He and his wife traveled the world, experiencing new places and cultures.

He gave his time generously to his community, including years of service with the Kiwanis Club, where he embodied the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors. His faith and spiritual life were a quiet but steady presence. He regularly volunteered at Arsha Bodha, gardening, cleaning, decorating, and more - and found deep meaning in hearing the teachings of Swamiji and meditating with his fellow yogis.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Sunderdas and Durgadevi, and his siblings Sudharshan Gera, Sudharshana Chandana, and Vanita Duggal. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Nina, and two children, Namita (Matthew) and Rishi (Maura), and four beautiful granddaughters.

We will carry him in our hearts forever.
