Sister Margaret Ann “Peggy” Noone, age 89, peacefully entered eternal life on June 6, 2026, at McAuley Hall Health Care Center, Watchung, New Jersey.

Born on April 3, 1937, Sister Peggy devoted 56 years of her life to the Sisters of Mercy, entering the community on September 7, 1969.  A woman of deep compassion, generous spirit, and steadfast faith, she faithfully served God’s people in education, parish ministry, and community leadership.

Sister Peggy began her ministry in education, serving as an intermediate teacher at St. Mary School in Trenton (1970–1971) and at St. Philip & St. James School in Phillipsburg (1971–1972), before teaching junior high at St. James School in Red Bank (1972–1975).  She then served as Principal of St. Mary School in Perth Amboy from 1975 to 1978, where she was known for her dedication to students, families, and faculty alike.

Her gifts for leadership and pastoral care led her to serve as Vocation Director at Mount Saint Mary Generalate in Watchung (1978–1980), where she joyfully invited others to consider a life of service in the Church.  She went on to minister as a Parish Minister at Holy Family Parish in Union Beach (1980–1994), becoming a trusted presence and support to the parish community.

Following a brief period of transition, Sister Peggy continued her ministry as Co-Founder and Co-Director of The Gathering Place in Middletown from 1995 to 2010, offering hospitality, spiritual support, and outreach.  She also served concurrently as Co-Director of Mercy Associates at Mercy Convent in Middletown from 2001 to 2008, fostering connections between the Sisters of Mercy and lay collaborators in mission.

Sister Peggy earned her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Georgian Court College in Lakewood and her Master’s degree in Elementary Administration from Newark State College.  Her lifelong commitment to education and ministry reflected her deep belief in the dignity of every person and the importance of compassionate service.

In her later years, she continued her life of prayer and quiet service, residing at the Sisters of Mercy in Mays Landing from 2010 to 2020, then at Gabriel Hall at Mount Saint Mary in Watchung from 2020 to 2025, and most recently at McAuley Hall Health Care Center.  There, she was cared for with great compassion and remained a gentle and prayerful presence among her Sisters.

Sister Peggy was predeceased by her parents, Albert Noone and Marion Carlin Noone; her brother, Albert Noone, Jr.; and her sister, Jane Covik. She is survived by her brother, Donald Noone, and her sister-in-law, Rosemarie Noone, along with many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

May she rest in peace and continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her through her kindness, generosity, and faithful service.

Services will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Chapel at McAuley Hall, Watchung, NJ, on Friday, June 12, 2026:

Visitation: 9:00 am

Welcome Home Service: 10:00 am

Funeral Mass: 11:00 am

Interment will take place at Saint Joseph Cemetery in Keyport, NJ, immediately following the funeral Mass.
