Luz Elena Baez lovingly known as Lucy has passed away on June 26, 2026 after a 4 year battle with cervical cancer. She loved her grandchildren to the moon and back and was very proud of all of them.

Lucy was born in 1957 in Caguas, Puerto Rico to Juan Baez and Julia Marrero Baez. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, and later made her home in Newark, New Jersey.

She earned her associate’s degree from Midtown School of Business. Lucy worked for more than 20 years as a manager, where she was known for her dedication and strong work ethic.

Lucy loved to dance and had a great love for music. Above all else, she loved her family more than anything. She was kind, honest, and known for having “no filter.” She also loved her fur grandbabies.

Lucy is survived by her children, Abigail Rosado, Angel Baez and his wife, Brittany Baez, and Marcelina Marti-Seide and her husband, Guy Seide. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Alina Kayla Williams, Angelica Baez, David Baez, Sofia Rosado, and Gabriel Baez.

She is survived by her siblings, Julia Baez Jaiman, Norberto “Chino” Baez, Ana Luisa Baez, Liseds Baez, Maritza Baez, and Milagros Ramos Baez.

Lucy was predeceased by her daughter, Julia Baez Ludwig; her brothers, Miguel “Lucky” Baez, Jose “Papo”Baez, Jorge Baez, and Emilio Baez; and her sister, Juanette Baez.

Lucy will be remembered for her love of family, her honesty, her kindness, her love of music , and the pride she had in her grandchildren.
