Alan Charles Palm Obituary

Alan Palm

Alan Palm passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026, at Gracedale Nursing Home in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He was 74 years old.

Alan was born on December 17, 1951, in Camden, New Jersey, to Dorothy Ann Merritt and George Louis Palm. He grew up in Warren Township and graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School with the Class of 1971. During his high school years, he was a member of a close-knit social group affectionately known as the “God Squad.”

Alan continued his education in college, where he majored in sociology and minored in behavioral science. Throughout his life, he worked in several professions centered on service and public safety, including as an emergency medical technician, a volunteer firefighter, and a security officer. Following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Alan also volunteered with the American Red Cross.

A devout Christian, Alan’s faith was an important part of his life. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, where he proudly continued a family tradition as a second-generation member of the church choir. He was also a friend of Redeeming Love Christian Center.

Alan was a staunch American patriot with a deep interest in the history of World War II. He was an avid collector of World War II books, media, and memorabilia and was a member of the Army Air Forces Historical Association. His fascination with aviation extended beyond history; he enjoyed airplanes, took flying lessons, and loved attending air shows.

A self-proclaimed “news junkie,” Alan closely followed current events and had a particular interest in meteorology and weather patterns. He also had a great affection for animals, especially cats and chimpanzees.

Alan will be remembered for his strong faith, his patriotism, his commitment to helping others, and the enthusiasm with which he pursued his many interests.

There will be a graveside service at 10:00 am on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains, NJ.
