Eleni Vanechanos passed away peacefully at her home in Warren, New Jersey, on Monday, July 27, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on December 20, 1935, in Mitilini, Greece, Eleni spent her early years in her native country before immigrating to the United States at the age of 19. She first settled in Queens, New York, and later moved to Jersey City, New Jersey, in 1958 following her marriage to Peter. Eleni made her home in Jersey City for more than 40 years before relocating to Warren to be closer to her daughter and family.

Early in her life, Eleni worked as a seamstress, a skill she continued to enjoy throughout her lifetime. She was exceptionally talented with a needle and thread and took great pride in the beautiful things she created.

Above all, Eleni was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, and a proud grandmother who dedicated her life to caring for those she loved. She especially enjoyed cooking and bringing her family together around the table for traditional Greek meals. Eleni was also well known for her delicious sweets and desserts, which were always prepared with love and generously shared with family and friends.

Eleni will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generous spirit, and the love and care she gave so freely throughout her life. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Peter Vanechanos, who passed away in 2019.

Eleni is survived by her children, Demi Esposito and her husband, Richard; Louis Vanechanos and his wife, Maria Alicia; and George Vanechanos and his wife, Anna. She is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Peter, Christopher, Peter, Mina, Richard, and Eleni

Funeral services will be held privately.
