Michael Bereheiko Obituary

Michael Bereheiko passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 25, 2026, in Brick, New Jersey, following a tragic accident.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, to Robert and Betty Ann Bereheiko, Michael spent his early childhood in North Plainfield before moving with his family to Green Brook at the age of 12, where he continued to make his home.

Michael graduated from Watchung Hills Regional High School in 2017. A talented and dedicated athlete, he was a member of the varsity football team and played on both sides of the ball, contributing on offense and defense. His teammates affectionately called him “Bear,” a nickname that remained with him throughout his life. His love of football began years earlier as a member of the Junior Warriors and continued proudly during his time with the Watchung Hills Warriors.

Following high school, Michael attended Lincoln Tech, where he studied to become a heavy diesel mechanic. For the past four years, he worked for Schifano Construction Corporation in Middlesex, New Jersey as a member of IUOE Local 825. Michael took great pride in his work and possessed a natural mechanical ability. He especially enjoyed riding dirt bikes and quads, often repairing and rebuilding them before heading out to ride with his friends.

Michael also loved spending time at the Jersey Shore, where he could relax, laugh, and enjoy the company of those closest to him. Whether riding with friends, celebrating a holiday, or simply spending an ordinary day together, Michael understood that the people around him were what mattered most.

Above all, Michael will be remembered for his generous heart and his unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was always among the first to volunteer whenever someone needed help, regardless of the task. He had a remarkable way of knowing when to show up and could always be counted on when it mattered most. Helping others was simply part of who Michael was.

Michael treasured every opportunity to be with his family. He loved holidays, gatherings, laughter, and the comfort of being surrounded by the people he loved. To Michael, family and friendship were not merely important parts of life—they were the very center of it.

Michael is survived by his loving parents, Robert Sr. and Betty Ann Bereheiko; his siblings, Erin Luistro and her husband, Stephen; Robert Bereheiko Jr. and his wife, Jennifer; and Katelyn Bereheiko and her husband, Cole Eicholtz; as well as his beloved nephew, Connor, and niece, Serafina. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and loving friends whose lives were made better by having known him.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Higgins Home for Funerals, 752 Mountain Boulevard, Watchung, New Jersey.

A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, August 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Michael’s loving memory to Operation Bling or the American Cancer Society.
